You may have noticed our new backdrop recently, painted by the adored scientist of technicolour, Bonnie Gray. Based out of Melbourne, Bonnie creates custom painting commissions and is known for her abstract, soft shapes and unique personal touches.
We asked Bonnie to take inspiration from nature and the earthy tones reflected in our collections in the making of ‘Earthside’. Bonnie danced around her studio creating this piece for us with love and care, enthusing her authentic passion for the art form into every stroke.
For Bonnie, inspiration strikes her anywhere; from 90s memories to fruit smoothies.
“Mornings and market runs; bicycles and fresh flowers; making smoothies and basking in the sun; unheard music and a day in the studio; laughter and authenticity; electric ideas and big thinkers; friendship and house plants. It’s all of these things and so much more that fill each brushstroke.”
When creating a commission, Bonnie gathers meaningful dates and stories which she affectionately layers into the artwork. The personalised colours, textures and inspiration is paired with hidden quotes, song lyrics, poems and stories in her own unique take on the world.
The down to earth creative is completely captivated in her creative process; using her own Fabrik blouse as a paint rag in a pure and beautiful documentation of the artwork on its own.

From painting beautiful art to raising two wild-eyed girls, Ash Leslie is a woman of many talents. Home to the South Coast, Ash has been a part of the Fabrik family for years, creating beautiful prints for us since we launched our first digitally printed collection in 2020.
Ash has captured our hearts with her story as well as her drive to raise awareness around breast cancer, especially the importance of regular self-checks.
