Materials are important to us as a brand, just as they are to you as consumers. We have created this library to outline the features and benefits of each material we use for our clothes and give you an insight into some of the processes behind their creation.
Cotton Ramie Blend
A 100% cotton ramie blend produces an easy care linen-like fabric that is extremely absorbent. It breathes well, but holds it's shape. Our cotton ramie blend becomes smoother and more lustrous with repeated washing and wear, similar to linen. Ramie is a very strong textile, made from nettle fibres. It is durable and more absorbent than cotton, while also being bacteria-resistant with no elastic properties. When blended with high-quality cotton, ramie allows for a stronger natural fibre and increased colour. This fabric does wrinkle easily, so be sure to hang your garments!
Cotton Voile
Voile comes from the French word meaning 'veil' due to its lightweight feel. Voile is a plain woven fabric made from 100% cotton blend. It has a higher thread count than most cotton fabrics, allowing for a silky soft feel. It is perfect for summer dresses as it is breathable and semi-sheer. Our 100% cotton voile has a lovely soft finish. Blending voile with cotton gives the fabric the durable properties of cotton while using an environmentally-friendly fibre. Cotton is sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable, making it an excellent choice throughout its entire product life cycle.

Linen
Our 'Canvas to cloth' collection features local artist Ash Leslie's hand painted pieces, digitally printed onto a linen fabric using Oeko-Tex passport certified inks. By using the digital print process we save 60 litres of water per garment in production! These pieces are made from 100% linen, making them easy to care for and comfortable to wear in every season. The linen pieces without Ash's work have been hand dyed with GOTS approved inks and dyes, which are free from any nasty chemicals. Linen has a luxurious feel with strength and durability. It is consider the strongest of all natural fibres, and doesn't weaken with washes. The fibre's strength directly contributes to the fabric's strength, making linen clothes very long-lasting. It has a lower environmental impact than cotton with the same breathable and highly absorbent properties. Linen is also naturally insect repelling!

Bamboo
The essential basic for comfort and wearability, our organic bamboo/cotton blend maintains its shape and feel time after time. Bamboo requires no chemicals and very little water to grow, making it a great choice for the environment. Bamboo also absorbs more carbon dioxide from the air compared to cotton, and releases more oxygen into the environment; improving air quality. As a fabric it is soft to wear and highly sweat absorbent - pulling moisture from your skin for evaporation. Bamboo is also powerfully insulating, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter! We botanically dye the bamboo/cotton blend with indigenous plants at our dye house with Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) approved inks and dyes for sustainable and comfortable year-round basics. Please remember to use eco detergent when washing this blend!

Gingham
100% cotton gingham is a staple pattern piece in our fabric library. We love it for it's vintage vibe. Gingham is a medium-weight balanced plain-woven fabric made from cotton yarn. It can be easily cleaned and is the ideal material for lightweight clothing. Gingham is very versatile. Because it contains cotton, it absorbs any moisture without leaving a trace; hard to stain and perfect for lifetime wear!
Some of our gingham favourites include the Tiered Skirt, Smocked Maxi Dress and Koko Top.
